The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network has been publishing The World Happiness Report annually since 2012.
This year The World Happiness Report 2017 looks at trends in the data measuring how highly people evaluate their lives on a scale ranging from 0 to 10. The rankings, which are based on surveys in 155 countries covering the three years 2014-2016, reveal an average score of 5.3 out of 10.
The 2017 report gives special attention to the social foundations of happiness, including happiness at workplace.

Real gross domestic product per capita is one of the key measurements of the happiness
Others include
1) Generosity
2) A healthy life expectancy
3) Having someone to count on
4) Perceived freedom to make life choices
5) Freedom from corruption

This year’s report also focused on happiness in the workplace.”The research reveals that happiness differs considerably across employment status, job type, and industry sectors.”

The Least Happy Countries Are

The least happy countries in the ranking belons to mainly African countries that have made very little or no progress lately.

Pakistan
Pakistan has jumped up 12 places from last year in The World Happiness Report rankings, indicating a trend towards greater economic and social well-being. Pakistan, with a score of 5.269, is ranked at 80 out of the 155 countries. The 2016 report had ranked Pakistan at 92, with a score of 5.132. Pakistan is now the happiest nation in South Asia, 32 positions ahead of India (122), Nepal (99), Bangladesh (110), Bhutan (97) and Sri Lanka (120).
